A restaurant in Norfolk, which has been praised for its homemade pies, has featured in a top pubs to visit list.

The Three Horseshoes in Warham, between Wells and Stiffkey on the north Norfolk coast, has been listed in The Guardian as one of the 50 best UK pubs - and is the only one from the county to feature.

Under the subcategory of best historic pubs across the UK, the quaint village eatery is described as a flash into the 1950s.

The list was put together by Pete Brown, author of Miracle Brew: Adventures in the Nature of Beer.

He writes: “One room resembles a Victorian sitting room, with a portrait of her imperial majesty and another of local lad Lord Nelson flanking an old piano. Another room is a scullery full of old posters advertising Oxo, mustard powder and bile beans.

“It’s still an absorbing escape from the 21st century.”

The Three Horseshoes prides itself on its “spacious walled garden” and “simple, unfussy food”.

The family-run pub has also recently refurbished accommodation both upstairs and in the Grade II Listed Old Post Cottage next door
