Backpackers’ retreat Deepdale Backpackers and Camping near Wells hosted the nostalgic event featuring jive and swing musicians, military reenactments and old time dance lessons.

Female visitors took the chance to have their hair styled into victory rolls and other bygone fashions.

Other guests took a step back in time at a screening of a VE Day newsreel, Noel Coward’s film Brief Encounter and the classic war film, The Great Escape.

The British Evacuees Association was at the event sharing wartime stories, and the 1st Airborne Div Provost Company LHG and Marines were among the reenactor groups there.
