Student Michael Koiza has raised over £850 by walking a gruelling 85 miles in four days from Cambridge to Cromer.

The 14-year-old was moved to undertake his charity challenge after visiting Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Inspired by the work of the hospital Michael set himself the challenge to walk from his home in Histon, north of Cambridgeshire, to Cromer where members of his family live.

Last month Michael set off, accompanied by his mother Maria Koiza, on the first leg of his journey from Cambridge to King's Lynn along the Fens River Way which follows the River Cam and Great Ouse.

The intrepid student then completed the second leg of his trek on the following weekend in cold and windy conditions. This took him along the Norfolk Coast Path from Hunstanton to Cromer where he was met by family members.

The whole trip, which took over 35 hours to complete, took the pair across the regions riverside footpaths, sandy beaches and clifftop passes.

Mrs Koiza said: 'The support Michael has received has been brilliant. He has met many people along the way and I hope it has inspired people to take up similar challenges.'

Michael has smashed through his fund raising target of £500 and hopes to eventually double this. His current total of £885 has been raised through bucket collections and sponsorship.

Donations are still coming in and if you would like to help boost Michael's total his online sponsorship page is at www.justgiving.com/michaelkoiza.
