Support has been given by town councillors for a multi-use games area at Stalham High School
The pitch will be built on the school's old basketball court, near to the sports hall, and will also be floodlit, although there will be a curfew of 10pm after which the lights will be switched off.
At a meeting on Monday night Stalham town councillors gave their backing to the plans, but urged the school to make sure the flood lights did not cause a nuisance to nearby homes, and that they were switched off on time.
Work on the games area is expected to start in March, subject to planning consent being granted by Norfolk County Council, and should take six weeks to complete.
