Budding young bakers at Sheringham High School served up treats ranging from scones to sausage rolls, at a ‘Best of British’ tea party they organised for staff and parents.

The Year 9 students, who are studying GSCE food technology, spent weeks preparing for the event, designing invitations and menus and making bunting and place cards.

They also looked at the benefits of buying fresh, local produce and learned about the importance of presentation.

Treats served up to parents and staff included home made rolls with a variety of fillings, tray bakes, fairy cakes and biscuits.

Sheringham High School food and nutrition teacher Angela Pleasants said the event had given the 13 and 14-year-olds a goal to work towards.

She added: “It was a nice opportunity for parents to see what their children are doing in school, the students loved it and having the tea party on the horizon meant they worked really hard.”
