The unusual sights of a lion, wild boar and flying fish can be seen in a Norfolk garden as carefully-crafted sculptures go on display in a special exhibition.

As the 14-acre garden at Stody Lodge, near Melton Constable, begins to burst into spectacular colour this spring, the prestigious Animal Art Fair will open tomorrow.

It is the first time the art exhibition has been held in Norfolk.

Featuring 30 works by four of the country's foremost contemporary animal artists, the month-long display will add a different dimension to Stody Lodge's annual fundraising open gardens.

Kate MacNicol, 34, who lives at Stody Lodge with her husband Charlie and their two children, said: 'It's quite exciting for Norfolk that the Animal Art Fair has decided to come here.

'There's lots of fun and interest, not just for garden enthusiasts and art lovers, but for all those looking for a fun afternoon out. We also have a variety of different activities happening throughout the month.'

The Animal Art Fair exhibition will open to the public from 1pm to 5pm every Sunday, starting tomorrow, throughout this month and on Monday, May 25.

Alongside the sculpture show, there will be a display of paintings in a special exhibition marquee from May 17, and on May 10 there will be the Stody Kids for Kids' Day with the Norwich and District Kid and Goatling Show.

Youngsters from Astley Primary School, Holt Community Primary School, Corpusty Primary School, Beeston Hall Preparatory School and Gresham's Preparatory School have also got involved and have entered the Stody Animal Art Fair Young Talent Awards.

Their work will be displayed from May 10. For more information about the exhibition and a timeline of events, go to www.stodyestate.co.uk
