Walkers being asked to raise funds for people with diabetes by joining an event at Sheringham Park on Sunday June 27.

Walk the Extra Mile, run by Diabetes UK, has grown in popularity since starting in 1999.

There are two routes at the Sheringham national trust park, one of 5 miles and the other of 2.5 miles, which is also suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

The charity is hoping that at least 100 walkers will participate at Sheringham Park and help beat last year's national target of 280,000.

Television presenter Eamonn Holmes, who is backing the event because his mother is diabetic, said it was a chance to enjoy a wonderful day out while raising vital funds to help people with diabetes and sustain important diabetes-related projects.

To register for the walk and to receive a sponsorship form, contact Jackie Neve on 01692 405492.

Details of all walks are available at www.diabetes.org.uk/walktheextramile.
