Play on: Stalham Brass Band finishes another successful year
East Anglia’s longest established brass band has finished another busy year with more engagements than ever.
Stalham Brass, under director of music, Tim Thirst, is now booking into 2019.
The band, which holds the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Award, was heard over the Christmas period at Roys of Wroxham and at Stalham Yuletide Market, among other locations.
Mr Thirst said: “We’ve done about 20 engagements this year, compared to 17 last year.
“We’ve done different engagements for different organisations and helped out charities.
“One of the standouts was Ridlington Gardens where we did the open gardens event.
“And with support from national and local charities the training band goes from strength to strength with more new starters from the area schools.
“We are training 30 children, aged from six to 15, and we give them free instruments for hire. The band would like to thank the community for its overwhelming support.”
