A popular annual arts festival has special Norfolk Day events planned in its 10th anniversary year.
Holt Festival has announced two special events for Friday, July 27 that will celebrate the rich diversity of the arts and entertainment in our county.
There's also a very special exhibition running through the full week of never before seen paintings by screen legend Sir John Hurt, one of Norfolk's most famous adopted sons.
Most of the paintings in the exhibition, John Hurt as Artist, have been loaned by his wife, Lady Anwen Hurt, who said: 'Whenever anyone referred to John's painting as a hobby he was quick to point out that a painting was not something he did for relaxation or a bit of fun, he took it every bit as seriously as he took his acting career.'
Sir John Hurt painted all his life, attended The Grimsby Art School aged 17, and in 1959 won a scholarship to St Martin's School of Art in London.
The exhibition is free and can be seen at The Auden Theatre foyer mezzanine between 11am and 7.30pm.
Meanwhile, there will be a performance and interview Q&A with the legendary Norfolk-based theatre producer, Peter Wilson MBE.
A former actor and Chief Executive of Norwich Theatre Royal for 25 years, he will take a rare step back onto the stage at St Andrew's Church to perform TS Eliot's Four Quartets. Dame Margaret Hodge MP, Labour member for Barking, will later interview Mr Wilson.
Elsewhere, the county's best-loved, most popular and, occasionally rudest comedy duo The Nimmo Twins, comprising Karl Minns and Owen Evans, will celebrate all things Norfolk in their very own inimitable style at The Auden Theatre.
Guest artistic director Stash Kirkbride said: 'We're very happy to mark Norfolk Day with these legendary performers and Sir John's paintings. We are 100pc behind the idea of celebrating all that's wonderful and unique about our county in the first Norfolk Day while we celebrate our own 10th anniversary.'
