Pop starlet Sophie Ellis-Bextor is one of the performers set to shine at Norfolk's biggest pop festival this summer, it was revealed last night.

Thousands of people are expected to pack King's Lynn's Tuesday Market Place for her performance during Festival Too on Friday, July 8.

The award-winning artist, who shot to fame ten years ago with UK number one hit Groovejet, is back touring with album number four - after having baby number two.

Speaking to the EDP about how she manages to juggle family life with international tours, she said: 'I don't really - it's quite chaotic, you have to just not fight it.

'My upbringing was similar because my mum and dad both worked in TV doing funny hours, so I suppose I'm not really designed for consistency.'

She added: 'I'm having an amazing time right now. It really is the best it's ever been.

'I'm still completely excited, and I think that's vital because there's nothing more unsexy than a jaded pop star.'

The festival will kick off on Saturday, June 25 on King Staithe Square with a Elton John tribute act and fireworks display.

Between then and Sophie Ellis-Bextor taking to the stage, there will be performances from local bands The Yesterdays and Birkenhed, 80s icon Howard Jones and the UK's leading Lady Ga Ga tribute act.

The Lightning Seeds, well-known for their hit single Three Lions, will perform at the Tuesday Market Place on Saturday, July 2.

Ian Broudie, the band's lead singer, said: 'It should be a great night, hopefully the weather will be good and we'll all have a great time.'

The climax of the festival will be on Saturday, July 9 with pop band The Hoosiers, who are currently touring with their re-released second album.

Alan Taylor, one of the festival organisers, said: 'This is now the 26th year of Festival Too and this is the best line up we have had for a number of years.

'We have got well-known acts on every night and we are extremely proud of that and over-the-moon with excitement.'

Admission to all the gigs is free with sponsorship from local businesses and bucket collections helping to cover the cost of staging the event.

Atomic Kitten, Toyah Willcox, Deacon Blue, The Stranglers, Bad Manners, The Human League and 10cc have headlined at previous events even Rolf Harris has appeared.

Festival Too started in 1985 with the aim of providing free entertainment to the people and visitors of West Norfolk and is now one of Europe's biggest free festivals.
