Part of road blocked off after storm damage

Damage was caused to part of a road in Cromer during heavy rain.
The damage was done to the carriageway of Station Road, just west of the Park Road turn off, on the afternoon of Saturday, July 25.
Highways and Anglian Water workers both attended to assess the damage and cordon off the area.
Although it was initially suspected the damage may have been caused by a sinkhole or a burst water main, it now appears neither of those things was involved.
An Anglian Water staff member said on Sunday it was thought that a manhole cover had been displaced during the storm, damaging the road, and causing water to gush out onto the road’s surface.
A small section on the northern half of the road remained sealed off on Sunday, but vehicles are able to pass by on the southern side of the road.
