Dozens of nature-lovers and their canine companions turned out to Sheringham beauty spot Pretty Corner Woods, to enjoy the first annual Doggy Day Out, organised by North Norfolk District Council’s countryside team in aid of animal charity Dogs Trust.

The event, which included dog-orientated trade and charity stands, a raffle, a flyball demonstration and a have-a-go dog agility course run by Norfolk Dog Training Society, saw dogs ranging from puppies to pedigree pets line up in front of qualified show judge and NNDC admin officer Penny Sands.

Senior countryside and parks supervisor Annie Gedge, who has been running events at Pretty Corner for 15 years, said the show, which grew out of a idea thought up in a staff meeting, had been a great success.

“With all the expertise we have, we thought it would be a good idea to organise a fun dog show that would also be a great family day out,” she added.

North Norfolk District Council will be running a series of events and activities throughout the summer. For more information, visit www.north-norfolk.gov.uk/events
