Norwich City legends Darren Eadie and Mike Milligan shared the pitch with amateur players ranging from youngsters to grandparents at the weekend, at a football match held as part of a family fun day organised to raise cash for a youngster with an inoperable brain tumour.

Held at Sheringham Football Club, the event, which also included stalls, fairground rides, a raffle, a bouncy castle, and food stands, saw hundreds turn out to support five-year-old Benny Pitcher, who was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer three months ago.

Friends and supporters have since raised nearly £10,000 for the East Runton youngster and his family, holding a string of events ranging from a golf day, to a fishing competition.

Sunday's fun day, which also included a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses and an auction with lots including signed football shirts and tickets to see chart-topping singer songwriter Lewis Capaldi, was organised by family friends Martin Watts, Amy Goodyer and Jason Trett.

Thanking all those who supported the event, including Mr Eadie, Mr Milligan and premier league referee Dan Robathan, who officiated at the match, Mrs Pitcher said: "It has been quite overwhelming the amount of support we have had, it is difficult to put into words how grateful we are."
