Those signing up to the sponsored feat will complete a five-mile route, climbing 207-feet-high Beeston Hill, following the path to 259ft Incleboro Hill, then trekking up 298ft Stone Hill, near Beeston Regis.

Carnival committee member Dick Grieve said the Three Peaks Challenge, which is now in its fifth year, was open to anybody keen to support their favourite good cause.

"The main thing is that it is a fun event," he added. "All people have to do to take part is get themselves sponsored to complete the route in any way they feel comfortable - by walking, running, ambling or hopping."

The challenge runs on Saturday, August 17. For a sponsorship form, email: dolbysy@aol.com or phone 07881 764723. Entry forms can be completed on the day or downloaded from the carnival website: www.sheringhamcarnival.com
