Carnival organisers in Sheringham have moved the popular parade to the final day of this year's week-long festival to coincide with the grand fireworks finale.

Nearly six months ahead of the main Carnival Day, the committee are already building up a packed programme including a battle of the bands and the annual aquackic duck race.

The build up begins on May 4 with the Carnival Queen selection at the Crown Inn and a car boot sale on July 21.

Carnival week kicks off on August 1 with a variety of events taking place all day including the crowning of the queen by television chef Chris Coubrough.

The main Carnival Day takes place on Wednesday, August 4 where the streets of Sheringham will throng with entertainers, stalls and music - but without the usual parade of floats.

That has been moved to the final day of festivities, taking place on Saturday, August 7. A tug of war, five-a-side football and Nick Lee's Family Circus will keep families entertained during the day with the parade kicking off from Sheringham Common at 6.30pm.

The fireworks display will follow with music in the beer tent carrying on into the night.
