Fencing and picnic tables at Sheringham Primary School have been given a colourful new look, thanks to a team of local Guides, and a £200 donation of paint from local hardware store Blyth and Wright.
After Year 1 teacher Suzanne Clitheroe came up with the idea of giving her pupils' playground a makeover, her Year 3 colleague Helen West, who is a leader at Guide groups in Sheringham and Suffield Park, Cromer, enlisted the help of a 30-strong group of girls, who spent four of their weekly meetings painting fences, tables and cable reel toadstools in shades of blue, purple, green and pink.
Thanking Blyth and Wright owner Chris Wright and his suppliers Decco, of Ipswich, who also contributed toward the cost of the paint, Miss Clitheroe said: 'We wanted to make the area much more of an interactive space and the impact the paint has had has been lovely – it has really brightened up the playground and it is the first thing the children notice when they come in to school.'
