There are just a couple of months to go until Cromer Carnival and the countdown has begun, with dozens of people working away behind the scenes to make sure the annual event goes off without a hitch.

The fun kicks off with the first of two chilldren’s weeks on July 30, followed on August 5 with a soapbox derby, which, re-introduced four years ago, has become one of the popular events in the programme.
It will see hundreds line the streets to watch entrants of all ages compete for trophies in wacky home made contraptions - which last year ranged from a space shuttle, to a fire engine.

Carnival week this year runs from August 11-17, with carnival day kicking off with a display by the Red Arrows, before the parade assembles for judging at Runton Road.
The ‘royal’ family has been chosen and, with plans already finalised for this year’s event, carnival chairman Tony Shipp and his team are already looking ahead to next year, when the hugely popular annual event will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

What is your fondest (or funniest!) carnival memory? Are there any old events you’d like brought back? And who do you think have been the biggest stars of carnival?
