The Norfolk Gardens Trust’s book, Humphry Repton in Norfolk, was given to the TV star at BBC Gardeners World Live at the NEC in Birmingham.

A trust spokesman said: “Mr Titchmarsh had very kindly helped the volunteer researchers with an item to be photographed for the book, and the trust’s vice-chairman and book editor Sally Bate was able to thank him in person for his help.

“As the book was printed by Barnwell Print in Aylsham, where Humphry Repton and other members of his family are buried, it is a truly Norfolk production.”

Mr Titchmarsh said: “Wow! What a lot you have achieved in under two years. It is a really wonderful book.”

Events celebrating the bi-centenary are being held in Norfolk and across the country.
