A parish council hit by a wave of resignat-ions is back up to strength after an election.

Sea Palling and Waxham council was left without enough members to function legally in June after six members resigned following a row over whether an election was needed to fill a single vacancy on the council.

Four district councillors were parachuted in to keep the parish ticking over as an interim emergency measure. But now, an election has seen four people being picked from six candidates. The poll was topped by Christine Perkins with 70 votes, followed by Roy Simpson (68), Russell Tanner (60) and Jolyon Bird (48). They join David Russell, Mary Vacca and Lesley Bellerby on the council.

Unsuccessful candidates at the poll, which had a turnout of 25pc, were Michael French (30 votes) and Myles Crowder (27)
