A derelict site in North Walsham could be occupied by the tools and hardware retailer, Screwfix.

Plans for a single-storey building in Hornbeam Road were approved by North Norfolk District councillors (NNDC) in June.

And an application has been submitted by Screwfix Direct Limited to amend the approved operating hours and allow operations at the site between 7am and 8pm, Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm on Saturdays, and 9am to 4pm on Sundays.

Documents submitted state that Screwfix wishes to secure opening hours in line with its national portfolio.

Other businesses are ready to move onto the site, which will include a veterinary surgery, office spaces and a car park.

A Screwfix spokesman said: "As we grow our store network to a target of 800 in the UK, bringing Screwfix even closer to busy tradespeople, we will announce details about each new store, including planned dates for opening in due course."
