She doesn’t know anyone with cancer, she just wanted to help.
Eleven-year-old Courtney Waite, a Year 7 pupil at Sheringham High School, raised £352.40 for Macmillan Cancer Supportat a tea, coffee and cake fundraiser at the town’s YESU community cafe last month.
She came up with the idea for the event, which also included a tombola and raffle, after her brother Alex shaved his hair for the charity - aged just eight and raised £305.
Thanking everyone for their support, Courtney, who also raised £104 at a cake stall at Gresham, said: “I really enjoyed doing this and hope the money can help someone.
“I would like to thank Diane Evans from Macmillan who ran the tombola and Sylvia Grimbley for getting raffle prizes and running the raffle; also the ladies of Weybourne WI for the kind donations of cakes and raffle prizes, and lastly to the YESU community cafe for letting us use there cafe.”
Courtney’s mum Kay added: “We are so proud of our daughter, she is such a lovely young lady who wants to help people.”
