Royal Pioneers enjoy weekend jolly in Sheringham
Royal Pioneers Corps veterans from across the country have paid a visit to Sheringham for a reunion weekend.
The jolly earlier this month was the second such event organised by Peter Wegg, himself a Pioneer.
The programme included a barbecue, parade and laying of wreathes at Sheringham’s war memorial and an evening of entertainment at the Tyneside Club.
Mr Wegg said: “A brilliant weekend of old mates, stories and a fair amount of laughs and not forgetting lost comrades.
“Very smart turnout at the parade at Sheringham memorial and laying of wreaths, with many campaign medals proudly worn.
“Veterans and club members raised over £300 with a raffle and auction, which is going to the Royal Pioneer Corps Association.
Pioneers from all parts of the country fell in Love with Sheringham.”
Mr Wegg said many attendees planned to return to the next jolly in 2020.
He added: “Thank you to the many people that spoke to the veterans when they were in Sheringham Saturday after the parade, they were blown away with the friendly welcome.”
