Road safety campaigners get £300 for signage on dangerous Norfolk road
Road safety campaigners have received nearly £300 for better warning signage on the busy and dangerous Aylsham Road in North Walsham.
Save Our Streets (SOS) North Walsham wants drivers to be more careful on the road which does not have a payment for most of its length and is the main heavy lorry and bus route into town.
Campaigner Berni Marfleet said: “We were delighted North Walsham Community Shop granted almost £300 to enhance the safety signage.
“Recent surveys carried out with the advice and help of the police, have shown that there is a very high proportion of children using the road, accounting for over 30pc of pedestrian movements at peak times.
“There is also evidence of many accidents with damage to property as well as personal injury and near misses.”
The signage will complement the forthcoming re-surfacing and removal of the central line on the road.
