An independent brewery in north Norfolk has created a new ale to raise money for the Nelson's Journey bereavement charity.
Panther Brewery, based at Collers Way, Reepham, was set up in 2010 by Martin James, and continues to go from strength to strength.
Sales manager Danny Holdom said: 'The new brew, Paws for Thought is a 4.3pc alcohol, golden ale. We are launching it on February 14 which is a poignant occasion when people will be thinking of loved ones.
'We were looking last year to work with a local charity and it came to our attention the amazing work that Nelson's Journey does.
'We provided beer for the Tour de Broads cycling event last year and thought it would be great to continue this link to the charity.
'From visiting the team, Martin and I got a real insight into how valuable the work is for the children who have suffered the loss of someone close to them. It was humbling to meet people whose sole goal was to help them.
'We wanted to brew a beer that would be suitable for the cause, a refreshing golden, orangey ale, using Mandarina Bavaria hops.
'The name of the beer, Paws for Thought also fits in well with both the subject matter and a little pun on the Panther theme.'
Meanwhile, the community-led pub, the Kings Arms at Shouldham has allowed Nelson's Journey to be the chosen charity for its monthly quiz on Sunday, March 25. Panther Brewery will enter a team at the event and there will be a raffle where prizes will include 500ml bottles of Paws.
Paws will be stocked at Panther's brewery shop and bottles will be available in many local outlets and farmers' markets. It will also be available in pubs by the pint.
Sophie Berry, funding and marketing manager at Nelson's Journey, said: 'Funds raised from the sale of Paws for Thought will support us in continuing to provide a free service to Norfolk's bereaved children and young people.'
Panther produces traditional real ales with everything from golden ales to porters available. It even has its own alcohol-free real ale called Hopsta.
