As, an ex-town and district councillor and mayor for North Walsham, I feel I have to make a comment on my recent visit there.
On Friday I came over from Lincoln to Roy and Audrey Haynes's funeral, and was so surprised to notice nobody from the town council had the courtesy to attend, after all, Roy was a town and district councillor and mayor for many years, and to show respect would have meant a lot to his family.
On the Saturday, myself and my husband took a walk around the town.
It left me nearly in tears.
The precinct and the bottom end of the town is a disgrace.
I know shops are closing, but it should be kept in a clean and presentable fashion, to attract more business to the area.
I was informed a Costa coffee shop is opening up nearly next door, to a long established delicatessen.
You should be trying to keep the businesses you have.
There were plenty of empty shops to provide a Costa coffee shop.
Come on North Walsham, I am very sure there is people out there with the foresight, imagination and determination to make things happen in your area, so if you have the guts, and determination to make things happen, get out there stand for election.
The town obviously needs new blood. So when election time comes around again put yourself forward and give hope to the people. It doesn't happen on it's own.
With all the new housing going up, you need much better infrastructure to cope. So come on, you people, your town needs you.
