A raising the roof fundraising auction is being held at a Norfolk church that was twice targeted by lead thieves last year.
Repairs to St Mary’s church, Baconsthorpe, near Holt, will cost more than £100,000.
An auction of promises and interesting things will take place on Friday, July 6 at 7pm. This will consist of a live auction of about 50 lots, together with a silent auction. Lots will be on view ahead of the day.
A raffle is also being held with donated cash prizes of £250, £100 and £50. The raffle will be drawn at the end of the live auction at the event.
The lots are varied, ranging from a hot-air balloon ride to tea with Norman Lamb MP in the House of Commons.
St Mary’s was targeted shortly after parishioners raised £120,000 to carry out restoration work, and it put the church in danger of closing after 800 years.
