One man is in prison and two more are being given homes as Cromer police and council officials seek to tackle anti-social behaviour in the town, and help the homeless.

The problems are one of the current priorities for the area's Safer Neighbourhood Team which is working with North Norfolk District Council's housing options officer.

As a result of the team's work, Guy Parke, 46, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with breaching his anti-social behaviour order by entering a licensed premises. He appeared at Great Yarmouth Magistrates on Friday October 22 and was sentenced to 46 days in prison. The action followed an incident on Holt Road, Cromer, on October 21.

The two men being housed must first sign Good Neighbour Contracts with their housing associations agreeing that they will not engage in rowdy or nuisance behaviour and will abide by the conditions of their tenancy.

The other priority for the team was to crack down on anti-social behaviour in Northrepps and Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABCs) have been issued to two local youths. Under the terms of the voluntary ABCs, they agree to stop nuisance behaviour and face receiving an ASBO if they breach their contracts.

Officers have also been looking at ways in which lighting could improve Northrepps' adventure play area and lighting improvements have also been suggested for the village hall which the parish council is investigating.

At the recent Safer Neighbourhood Action Panel it was decided that the two priorities would continue.
