A north Norfolk primary school has been given an 'outstanding' grade for the way its students develop personally and how their wellbeing is managed.

Swanton Abbott Primary has received the results of an Ofsted inspection carried out in May, detailing how pupils “enjoy school greatly” and how the school stands them in good stead for the next stage of their education and for later life.

Of the main measures taken, most were scored by inspectors as 'good', with the one 'outstanding' grade and a single 'satisfactory' in terms of the school's performance at foundation stage.

The report said that the school is well led and managed, effective action has been taken since the last inspection in 2003 to address issues raised at that stage and that the children “thrive as learners and as people, growing in confidence as they succeed in their work and become richly involved in school life”.
