A community which came out in force to protest against the closure of its local post office has taken its campaign to the internet.

More than 300 people took to the streets in East Runton, near Cromer, over the bank holiday weekend to protest against proposals to close the village's post office.

Now campaigners have gone one step further in a bid to get answers from central government as to why their branch is on the hit list.

A petition against the closure has been posted on the Downing Street website and if more than 200 people sign up a response has to be given by the government.

It simply reads: “We the undersigned petition the prime minister to intervene to stop the closure of a thriving post office at East Runton.”
