Seal and Shore Watch Rescue helped two poorly pups off the north Norfolk coast.

A spokesman said they were called to a "little poorly pup on the beach at Vale Road, Trimingham".

They added: "Apparently, there was a bit of a 'to do' down there with people not wanting to put their dogs back on leads.

"Sadly, we know that is getting to be 'the norm' these days and we have not found a solution.

"We were on the beach within 10 minutes of being called out and, with the help of the fisherman, picked up the pup and carried him off the beach.

"We transported the pup to our seal pens and the little wriggler was assessed.

"There was quite a bit of blood but the seal was not as bad as that would suggest. He had injuries to a rear flipper and his mouth. He also had the dreaded lung worm.

"A place was available at East Winch wildlife centre and we made the long journey up to East Winch. The pup weighed 14.5kgs and was called 'Shuck'"

They then had a call about a lethargic pup at Cart Gap, Happisburgh.

A spokesman added: "Our medic went down to have a look and picked him up as he was obviously very wormy. The pup wasn't seen to move and he thought it best to not to tempt fate. It was again taken to East Winch."
