The seventh edition of a two-day music extravaganza has firmly put Reepham on the festival map, according to organisers.

Hundreds of people from far and wide have descended on the market town for this year's Reepham Festival this weekend.

Hosted across three venues over the two days, the event saw headliners Big Country perform yesterday along with perennial crowd rockers Buster James, tribute band Mainly Madness and fast-rising Dereham-based rockers Bad Touch.

Yesterday also saw performances from Hayley Moyses' Bluegrass Forum, Daisy Victoria and a rare UK appearance by Australian singer-songwriter Lecia Louise.

Some 1,800 people attended the sell-out festival yesterday while another 500 are expected to enjoy sounds from the marquee - and undercover - at Whitwell Station today.

And while a thunderstorm caused a power cut and halted proceedings for a short time this afternoon, festival music and publicity manager Steve Nunn said the event had gone 'really well'

He said: 'The weather on Saturday stayed fine for us and everyone had a great day. Big Country went down well as did Hayley Moyses' Blue Grass Forum and Buster James.

'There was a great party atmosphere and it was very family friendly.'

Mr Nunn added: 'The festival is in its seventh year now and it sold out this year and last year. This year and last year's festivals seem to have got a synergy that extends beyond their geographical location and the festival is really on the festival map.

'We've had people from Scotland, the west country, Manchester and Lincoln and even though these are difficult times and there are lots of festivals out there, everything went really well and we're tentatively planning for next year.'
