Nearly 300 people turned out to a family fun day held by Sheringham Baptist Church at the town’s community centre on Sunday.

The annual event was organised by church youth worker Pete Skivington with the help of children’s worker Maggie Rothe and Sheringham minister The Rev Bryan Pickard.

Attractions included family sports challenges, giant outdoor board games, an inflatable gladiator game, stalls and a barbecue, with music provided by the church youth band and singing group Gospel Voices.

Visitors were also treated to free tea, coffee and cakes, and had a chance to take a turn in the stocks and be pelted with wet sponges.

Mr Skivington said the fun day, which was held in place of the usual Sunday family service, had been a great success.

“We had a fantastic turnout and we couldn’t have wished for better weather,” he added. “The overall purpose was for the church to engage with the community, but any proceeds will go towards projects we support working with families in Uganda.”
