Sheringham Little Theatre has been staging its own in-house professional pantomime every year for a decade, and, to celebrate, the man who has directed five of them is putting on his frock and make-up in a return to the stage.
Nick Earnshaw, who hails from Stafford, will be appearing as Sarah the Cook in the seaside venue's production of Dick Whittington in December.
He was Ugly Sister Pearl in Cinderella back in 2009 and has since made Sheringham his second home, with regular involvement in the Little Theatre's pantomime and summer seasons, both as an actor and as a director.
'I am really excited and it's a dream come true to be dame in Sheringham,' said the 37-year-old self-confessed panto addict.
'As a child I was obsessed with panto, I used to love watching, but I would also tape the radio top ten chart and work out how to get the tunes into a panto show. And when I was at drama school, agents would be surprised when they were trying to get me Shakespeare roles and I was asking about pantos.'
Mr Earnshaw, who is also writing and directing this year's tenth anniversary Little Theatre production, said pantomime had recently enjoyed a renaissance, thanks to venues' efforts to bring the traditional British genre up to date.
And although the show is still more than nine months away, he is already excited about opening night and is looking forward to helping recruit his fellow cast members in June.
'It seems a long way off, but I am working on ideas for a show that will be full of energy,' he said.
Theatre director Debbie Thompson said: 'Nick has been a popular and key member of the summer and panto teams so having him play the dame this year seemed a great way of marking our tenth anniversary. It should be great fun.'
Tickets for Dick Whittington will go on sale to the general public from the second week in April, and to theatre friends and members from April 1st.
