North Norfolk District Council has issued a warning to beach visitors after lumps of palm oil have been washed up on the beach.
Although the substance is harmless to humans, it is toxic to dogs.
Lumps of the oil have been reported on beaches between Bacton and Mundesley.
A spokesman for NNDC said: “We’re responding to reports of palm oil on beaches between Bacton and Mundesley, and working with other agencies to ensure an appropriate response.
“Dog walkers are advised to avoid the beach or keep their pets on leads.”
This follows a spate of other reports which saw chunks of palm oil washed up on south Norfolk and Suffolk beaches.
