A young barn owl could starve to death after she escaped from a north Norfolk wildlife rescue centre.

Dusk escaped from Wild Touch in North Walsham when a rat chewed through netting in her aviary’s roof on Saturday, October 6.

David Carr, manager of the centre said: “She was bred in captivity and hand reared from a day old - she doesn’t know how to hunt.”

He added: “We’ve really only got a few days to find her before she starves.”

Dusk is described as very friendly, vocal and likely to make her presence obvious.

A post on Wild Touch’s Facebook page said: “She will scream and hiss and may fly to someone, especially if she thinks they have food, as she will soon be quite hungry.

“She respondd to her name and is wearing a blue IBR ring and light brown anklets.”

Dusk is thought to be in the areas of Walcott, Ridlington or Bacton, and may enter sheds and garages.

Anyone who spots her is asked to call 07765345441.
