A village church is planning two events to raise money after lead was stolen from its roof last year.

Twelve gardens around Northrepps - including one with a gypsy caravan and another with a steam railway - will open over the May 26-27 weekend in aid of St Mary's church. There will also be art and craft stalls and refreshments available at the village hall, cost is £5 per person, but no dogs are allowed in the gardens.

A live music night is planned for June 16 at the village hall featuring a raffle and a performance by the band Top Banana.

Tickets are £5, available from Dave Burns by calling 07831 394346.

The village church was hit by roof raiders in April last year.

The cost to fix the damage was estimated at more than £27,000, but the insurance company would only cover £7,500 because the church lacked an alarm, although one was due to be fitted the week after the raiders struck.
