Open weekend on Norfolk’s canal

Visitors who want to find out about the restoration of a Norfolk canal can discover more on two open days.
The North Walsham and Dilham Canal was originally nearly nine miles long.
And the North Walsham and Dilham Canal Trust, formed in 2008, is hoping to restore about 7.5 miles and four of the original six locks.

The trust is hosting open days on Saturday, July 13, from 11am-5pm, and Sunday, July 14, from 10am-4pm, based at Ebridge Mill Pond, off the Happisburgh Road outside North Walsham.
Entry is free and visitors will be able to see the progress of first-phase restoration work under way at Ebridge Mill Lock.
Other attractions will include boat trips along the canal, kayaks and canoes to hire, independent inshore lifeboat teams in action, Ebridge Model Boat Club, the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association, Norfolk Classic and Vintage Tractor Club, Visit www.nwdct.org for more information.
