Mundesley Junior School has been praised by Ofsted inspectors for its effective leadership and "caring, respectful and inclusive" ethos.

In a letter to pupils, lead inspector Joanne Harvey said: "You go to a good school where all the grown ups do their best for you. They look after you and care for you well. Your teachers and teaching assistants make learning interesting and enjoyable and they work hard to help you make good progress in most lessons."

A report published following Ms Harvey's visit praised the rich curriculum provided by the school, and the way in which learning was brought alive.

As a result, the inspector said, children loved coming to school, behaved well, worked hard, and were keen to learn.

Ms Harvey singled out the link developed over the last two years with a primary school in Tottenham, North London, and commented that pupils demonstrated a remarkable respect and understanding of the lives of others.

Also highlighted were the school's large number of lunchtime and after-school sports clubs, which resulted in pupils achieving success in sporting competitions at the highest level.

The 127-pupil school achieved a grade 2, "good" in all key areas, with a grade 3, "outstanding" for attendance.

Areas for improvement included developing a system of monitoring and evaluation the new curriculum to secure the progression of knowledge, skills and understanding in all subjects.

Mundesley Juniors headteacher John Hunter was delighted that the report highlighted the school's many strengths, and that pupils, parents, governors and staff were recognised and valued.

"Within the last year, Mundesley and Bacton First Schools as well as ourselves have been inspected, and all three have been judged to be good schools. This gives a powerful message to the parents in our community that wherever their child goes to school, they will receive an excellent education," he said.
