Sheringham Gymnastics Club members are jumping for joy after being presented with a £3,000 inflatable tumble track.
The bouncy castle-style, 12-metre runway, which will allow youngsters to practise floor routines safely, was bought with part of a £10,000 Awards for All lottery grant, with other new equipment including a trampette, mats, asymmetric bars and a competition vault.
Since being set up at Sheringham High School 18 months ago, the club, which is open to girls aged eight-plus, has gone from strength to strength, winning team bronze awards in this year's Norfolk County Schools Gymnastics competition floor and vault section and Year 7 competition.
But because of a lack of suitable equipment, the club's 35 members were unable to take part in British Gymnastics four-piece competitions.
"We were limited in what we could do before, so, in terms of training, having the new equipment will take us into a different league," said coach Derek Welch.
"It will enable us to move from being a school club to a registered gymnastics club, which is a major step for us."
Mr Welch thanked Sheringham High School head teacher Tim Roderick and Active Norfolk for supporting the club's lottery application. "This is a great achievement for us, and it reflects our belief that we are providing a much-needed facility in this part of north Norfolk," he said.
Sheringham Gymnastics Club meets on Wednesdays from 3-5pm. For more information, phone 01263 822363 or e-mail: dwelch@sheringhamhigh.lpplus.net.
