Customers have been helping a north Norfolk store in their quest to provide new sporting equipment for youngsters.
Sainsbury’s Active Kids 2011, launched in February, has enabled customers of Sainsbury’s North Walsham to collect vouchers to donate to local nurseries, schools, Scout and Guide groups and Clubmark accredited sports clubs.
Store manager, Rob Wilkinson, said “Our colleagues really look forward to getting behind the Active Kids campaign with our customers. We hope this year’s equipment will make a difference to the lives of school children in North Walsham and the surrounding area”.
Back in November 2010, the store donated extra Active Kids equipment, which was worth over £100, to North Walsham Infant School and Nursery. Tracy Sadler, a colleague from Sainsbury’s North Walsham, recently visited the school to see how Active Kids equipment has benefited the children in their learning and development.
She said “It was great to see the children using the equipment donated by Active Kids. They enjoyed playing golf and tennis as well as having fun with pompoms and mini trampolines”.
Clare Fletcher, headteacher of North Walsham Infant School & Nursery, said: “I am always amazed by the generosity of Sainsbury’s in making so much useful equipment available to us in school. The children love the activities, games and sports equipment and we could never hope to buy such a variety for them, with the budget restrictions we face”.
Customers of Sainsbury’s North Walsham can donate their vouchers to their Active Kids registered local nursery, school, Scout and Guide group or sports club until July 18.
