Community groups and individuals who want to do something for North Walsham and its residents are encouraged to apply for grants from a new Community Shop.
The charity shop opened in January in Market Place as a way of generating profits for projects around the town, and now its founders, Paul Oakes, Bob Wright and Jon Witte have asked for expressions of interest. Mr Wright said: 'The first month has gone very well so we should be able to make some meaningful grants into the town, which is the whole idea of the shop.'
North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb, town mayor Sallie Stuckey and St Nicholas Church's Paul Cubitt officially opened the shop at the start of February. Mr Lamb said he could 'only praise the brilliant team' of 14 volunteers who run the premises, which is open 9.30am-3pm Monday and Wednesday to Friday, 9.30am-4pm Tuesday and 9.30am-2pm Saturday. Grant application forms are available in-store.
