A north Norfolk town is preparing to celebrate armed forces day for the first time.
Preparations are being made in North Walsham for the event, set to be held on Saturday, June 29, including a commemoration of the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
The celebration will involve a display of military artefacts in the town's Atrium, from 10am to 5pm, with cadets and air training corps taking part.
There will also be a speech and poetry reading session in the theatre at 2pm, with prizes presented to the winning entries of a writing competition between the town's high school pupils and cadets about threats facing the UK's armed forces.
The prizes, sponsored by Sainsbury's, will be presented by Air Commodore Kevin Pellatt, the Armed Forces Commissioner in Norfolk.
There will also be a free screening with refreshments of Storming Juno, about the D-Day landings, thanks to a grant to the North Walsham's Royal British Legion by the town's community shop.
