He spent months observing a family of foxes, taking thousands of photographs.
And now one of the images by North Walsham photographer Luke Wilkinson has been highly commended in a national photography competition.
Mr Wilkinson, 37, won praise for his photo of a young fox peeking out at the world at the British Wildlife Photography Awards.
He said capturing the image took a lot of patience and dedication.
Mr Wilkinson said: 'Back in April I found a fox den on the outskirts of London. It's a great location for foxes, with many active during the day. So after finding the den and a group of cubs only a few weeks old, I dedicated all my spare time travelling back and forth to London, and spending around 10 hours outside the den.
'I spent almost five months with these cubs and grew extremely fond of them.
'I came away with thousands of images, and also some amazing memories that will stay with me for a very long time.'
The image will now be printed in a book along with the contest's other winning and highly commended photos.
Mr Wilkinson, who recently moved to North Walsham after 12 years living in Winterton-On-Sea, took up photography about six years ago. He works at Roys, and said his dream was to one day become a professional wildlife photographer.
Mr Wilkinson said: 'I started off by just taking photos of pretty much everything and anything.
'Then after about a year I decided to focus solely on wildlife, as I have had a general interest in wildlife since I was a child.'
Earlier this month, Mr Wilkinson attended the British Wildlife Photography Awards night at the Mall Galleries in London, where his photo was displayed.
The event was hosted by television presenter Miranda Krestovnikoff.
He said: 'It's the second time now I've been highly commended in the exhibition.
'It's a great privilege to have my image alongside some of the country's leading wildlife photographers.
'The standard of images is extremely high, with the standard improving year on year.'
