North Walsham Market Cross

Jacqui Cross (L)

Virginia Gay (LD) - I have lived in North Walsham since 1984. For sixteen years now I have represented our town at the North Norfolk District Council. I have learned what local government can achieve

So if I am elected what will I do?

First, I shall do my best to make sure that new housing in North Walsham is well-designed, appealing and energy efficient and that this growth is underpinned by a proper road network, increase in medical provision and schools.

Secondly, I shall work to increase recycling and to protect the natural and historic environment of our town and District

Thirdly, I shall support measures to reintroduce free car parking to North Walsham. This will reduce the pressure on our residential streets and help us to compete better with neighbouring Districts which do provide free parking.

These things are not impossible. With your help, we will achieve them.

Fiona Turner (C) - I live in the North Walsham area and in recent years have been involved with the start up of several initiatives such as Regenerate North Walsham and the North Walsham Heritage Group.

My aim has been to showcase North Walsham as a place of great potential with a strong community at its heart.

We need to guide North Walsham towards a prosperous future whilst protecting its market town friendliness and neighbourliness.

North Walsham West

Elaine Addison (L) - I served in the RAF for 15 years, and lived in Norfolk whilst serving at RAF Neatishead. When I retired, I moved to North Walsham because of the beautiful landscape, the great beaches nearby and the safe and friendly atmosphere. I'm a single mum and work full time from home. If elected as your Labour District Councillor, you know that I will speak out for your rights in the West Ward. I've done it as a Town Councillor and will continue at District Council. We are facing the biggest challenge for a generation with the new local plan which will see 2,500 new homes in the West of North Walsham. We need strong, visible Councillors who will defend residents' views. We need Councillors who are not afraid to challenge these proposals. We deserve better.

Helen Eales (C)

Barry Hester (I) - As a North Walsham Town Councillor since 2011, including having the honour to be Mayor from 2016 – 2017 and again in 2018 – 2019, I have worked hard to try and ensure that the town has moved forward. I have been actively involved in the successful bid from the Market Town Initiative Fund of £100k to improve the Town Centre, which is only the starting point for major improvements in North Walsham that it desperately needs.

North Walsham is earmarked for some major development in the near future, which includes in excess of 2000 houses. This can not come without serious improvements to the current infrastructure including road improvements and improvements to facilities such as Schools and Medical Facilities. Nor can political dogma get in the way of what is required.

As an Independent District Councillor I will continue to represent all residents and fight for North Walsham to achieve what it truly deserves.

Nigel Lloyd (LD) - Nigel made North Walsham his home 40 years ago, he lives within the North Walsham West ward in which he is standing. He has 2 daughters and

4 grandchildren living in the Town. His close family relationships have driven his desire to see the Town continue to develop into a place where families can thrive.

Now retired from managing a gas terminal at Bacton, he is active in the community being Chair of North Norfolk Community Transport, a Trustee of the Canal Trust, a school governor and a committee member at Bradfield CC.

Nigel was elected as District Councillor in 2011 and re-elected in 2015. He has campaigned to promote sporting facilities in the Town and to mitigate flooding events on the Lynfield estate. He believes in promotinga sustainable future for North Walsham with any growth in the town accompanied by appropriate growth in infrastructure.

Ray Mooney (L) - I spent 30 years as a firefighter in the London Fire Brigade. I was elected to represent 6000 firefighters as a union rep. I feel passionately about the value of public services to the community. I'm in the Labour Party because it's values of inclusiveness, fairness and tolerance mirror my own. The District Council has been dominated for the last 16 year by Tories and Lib Dems. During that time we've seen housing developments that haven't delivered on promises of funding for infrastructure improvements alongside the increase in housing. Leading to longer waits to see a doctor, increased traffic congestion and higher demand for primary school places. North Walsham is earmarked for a huge increase in housing, it is vital that future developers be made to invest in infrastructure and roads in return for planning consent. We deserve better for North Walsham and North Norfolk.

Poppyland

Angie Fitch-Tillett (I) - I have been the only District Councillor for Poppyland since it was formed in 2003. I live in The Ward. My priorities are Coastal Management and Development Control, together with the reduction of Pollution both on land and in the marine environment.

I have served on The Development Committee since I was first elected and, more recently, Chaired the Committee until the end of last year. I played a part in the formation of our current Local Plan and have continued in this respect with our emerging new plan.

Also, I will remember that I'm at North Norfolk District Council (NNDC), as 'your' voice. I will be there to represent you and not myself.

Richard Kershaw (LD) - I have lived in North Norfolk for 28 years with my wife and two daughters.

I am now retired after a career in the Music, Film and Broadcast Industry specifying, supplying and building recording studios.

I feel strongly that we need a fresh start and need to listen carefully to what constituents voices. We need to work openly and cross party to deliver the best outcomes for North Norfolk especially in these divisive times.

I am committed to working to improve local government services in North Norfolk and to building and re-building our local communities. North Norfolk is a unique and beautiful place to live and I think that all citizens should be able to have a decent house to live in, a decent job and decent local services. We deserve better.

Roughton

Sue Arnold (C)

Nigel Pearce (LD)

Sheringham North

Susan Brisbane (L) - I have lived in Sheringham for over 15 years and my children attended the town's schools. I work as a senior manager in education and have been a local school governor so appreciate the importance of effective public services and their impact on people's lives. I am an elected Town Councillor in Sheringham where I have worked to improve facilities and move Sheringham forward in a positive direction that reflects local people's needs.

I am keenly aware of the difficulties brought by the lack of affordable housing when there are so many little-used second homes locally. Young people need places to live and jobs that pay a living wage. Sheringham should be better connected by improved mobile and broadband services, and public transport links that meet the needs of all in the community. I will work hard to ensure that we have the facilities and services we deserve.

Brian Hannah (LD)

Eddie Mayell (C) - I feel immensely privileged to have been nominated to stand for NNDC for my home town of Sheringham (North Ward). I have experienced several ways of giving back to my community over the past 26+ yrs of my life here in Sheringham and now to find myself with the opportunity and potential to help make a direct difference in our wonderful town fills me with great pride and optimism for our towns future. Only a Conservative Council will stabilise what has, once again, proven how costly the LibDem's have been to our community in their short time already. For example:- just one increase in Council tax in 8 years with the Conservatives and one in 6 months with the LibDems, with another rise schedule imminently! Ask whether you are happy to pay more every year for LibDem mismanagement or to vote for a stable, proven Conservative Council. This is why I am standing.
