A group of intrepid walkers have helped raise nearly £1,000 to help wounded soldiers and their families with a charity walk from North Walsham to Norwich.

The 16-mile walk between North Walsham town centre and Norwich city hall, which took place on Saturday was raising money for Help for Heroes.

The route took the walkers through Skeyton, Coltishall, Horstead, Frettenham and Old Catton before they arrived at Norwich City Hall after seven hours of walking.

One of those taking part was Katherine Bacon, 23, from North Walsham. She said she believed the walkers had raised approximately £1,000 for the charity, well over their target of £500.

She said: “I am very proud of the whole team, I think they did an outstanding job and I would like to say a big big thank you to them, because without them this would not have been possible.”
