Scores of long-distance walkers took to the highways and byways of North Norfolk on Saturday for a 50-mile walk that took them back to where they began.

Starting at Cromer High School at 8am, the hikers had 22 hours to complete the event, organised by Norfolk and Suffolk Long Distance Walkers’ Association (LDWA).

The route of the Winter Poppyline walk included checkpoints at Southrepps village hall, Bacton Wood, Buxton village hall, Woodgate car park near Blickling Hall and Hanworth memorial hall. It finished at Cromer High School.

The challenge saw some competitors running the route, but most walking. It acted as a qualifier for the national LDWA 48-hour 100-mile walk in May.
