Neatishead-based Norfolk Wherry Brass can finally talk about meeting Michael Portillo for an episode of the BBC2 series Great British Railway Journeys 'Cromer to Cambridge', after it was shown on BBC2 on New Year's Day.
The filming took place at the Norfolk Wherry Trust headquarters in Wroxham within the grounds of the Barton House Railway last July. Mr Portillo also joined variety performers to tap dance on Cromer Pier in the programme.
Publicity officer for Norfolk Wherry Brass Mick De'Ath said: 'It was a great experience for the band working with Michael Portillo and a truly professional film crew. It was amazing to see the hard work that went into the filming of around an hour to finish up with less than a minute on screen. This event marked a very successful debut for the band's then newly appointed director of music Eddie Baker.'
Mr Portillo is travelling through Edwardian Britain by rail.
