Coastal homes at Happisburgh might need better protection from the sea in the next 10 years as the cliff continues to recede.

As part of coastal defence and protection works, North Norfolk District Council is considering the possible need to improve protection to properties in Beach Road in the next decade.

In a planning application submitted to the council, the authority said: 'Should this be the case the application includes an option to shorten and strengthen the sill using existing rock relocated from in front of the caravan park that is being moved inland. The works will also involve the periodic removal of beach debris and re-cutting of the access ramp to ensure continued access for residents and visitors alike.'

The council initially plans to realign the protective rock and re-cut the access ramp to the beach to repair damage caused by the weather before last Christmas.
