There has been some good news for the residents of north Norfolk who rely heavily on a vital community service, which is udner threat.

North Norfolk Community Transport is a charity which allows elderly or more isolated people who can’t drive the chance to go out on trips, as well as getting into towns for food shops and appointments.

But given changes to government legislation, NNCT may now no longer be able to fund their scheme.

However a £500 donation has been made by the housebuilder behind Sheringham’s South Street development, McCarthy and Stone.

Cheryl Bissett, regional sales and marketing director at the firm, said: “We are delighted to make a donation to North Norfolk Community Transport – it is such a worthy local cause. This is a vital local service and we are thrilled that we could support them and their work.

“A tight-knit community and companionship are among the many benefits of living in a McCarthy and Stone development, and we are proud to support those who share our values and are helping to make a difference to the lives of others in the community.”

Claire Abbs, Chief Executive of North Norfolk Community Transport, added: “North Norfolk Community Transport is extremely grateful to McCarthy and Stone for this donation which will help us continue our valuable work supporting local residents’ access to the community.

“We are constantly looking for ways to collaborate with local businesses to support the 15,000 single trips we make each year, and we are delighted to be associated with a leading retirement housebuilder.”
