The first new chess club to be set up in Norfolk in many years was officially launched at a 'berries and bubbles' event.
Aylsham Chess Club, based at Aylsham and District Ex-Service and Social Club, in Hungate Street, will be starting its 2018-19 season with two quick-play tournaments in September.
This will be followed by two open evenings to allow prospective members to view the facilities at the club.
The club will have teams in the NCCA (Norfolk County Chess Association) league as well as having internal graded competitions and playing friendly chess games.
Founder member Bruce Carman said: 'It is great to be part of the first new chess club in Norfolk for many years. Aylsham is a growing community and it seems a good time to establish a new club right at its heart.'
